Clinical knowledge solutions provider
Thomson Micromedex, US, part of Thomson Corporation, has announced a partnership with healthcare provider Geisinger Health System, US to develop comprehensive evidence-based order sets (medication instructions and treatment options). The new product, Micromedex Order Sets, is projected to address healthcare organisations' needs for detailed instructions and treatment options that reflect current standards, medical evidence, and quality and regulatory initiatives.
Under the deal, Micromedex will acquire a large collection of proven inpatient order sets from Geisinger. Micromedex will then integrate its clinical knowledge solutions with Geisinger's proven medical protocols.
The product will be available as a separate solution for pre-integration, and to help ease the transition to an integrated setting. It will also be available as an integrated solution for computerised physician order entry (CPOE). Over 3,400 hospitals in Canada and the US which are currently using Micromedex knowledge products can apply for Micromedex Order Sets workflow capabilities in order to maintain a clinically consistent knowledge base.
