Thomson Gale, part of Thomson Corporation, US, has announced the release of the new
Gale Encyclopedia of Medicine, Third Edition. The encyclopedia, available both in print and e-book format, provides detailed information on nearly 1,750 topics.
The articles are categorised according to disease/disorder and test/treatment, thereby allowing users to easily access the information that is most relevant to their particular stage of research. Appropriate for allied health students, it covers a wide range of issues in simple language.
Features of the five-volume set include nearly 1,750 entries written by medical specialists and reviewed by expert advisers, including over 100 new entries and 250 updated entries. There are over 690 full-colour illustrations, photographs and tables; biographical and historical sidebars all through the text; and a resource section comprising books, periodicals, web sites and contact information for national support agencies and organisations. A comprehensive subject index is also included.
