| |  | NEWS ARTICLE | | | | UAB professors of medicine named editors in chief of 'Medical Care' Two medical professors, Dr. Catarina Kiefe and Dr. Jeroan Allison, from the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) have been named as editors in chief of Medical Care, the official journal of the Medical Care Section of the American Public Health Association, effective January 2007. Dr. Kiefe and Dr. Allison will replace the outgoing editors in chief, Carol Ashton and Colleen McHorney.
A professor of medicine and biostatistics, Kiefe, is a clinical epidemiologist and general internist. She also serves as director of UAB's division of preventive medicine, founding director of the Center for Outcomes and Effectiveness Research and Education, and founding director of the Deep South Center on Effectiveness.
An associate professor of medicine in the division of general internal medicine, Allison, is associate director of the Center for Outcomes and Effectiveness Research and Education and the associate director of the UAB Center for Education and Research on Therapeutics of Musculoskeletal Diseases. He has served as deputy editor of Medical Care for the past five years.
A monthly, Medical Care publishes original, peer-reviewed papers documenting the latest developments in the healthcare sector. The journal reports on the findings of original investigations into issues related to the research, planning, organisation, financing, provision, and evaluation of health services. | | | |
