Research and Markets, Ireland, has announced the launch of Encyclopedia of Biostatistics: 8-Volume Set, 2nd Edition
(http://www.researchandmarkets.com/reports/c43556).
Biostatistics is seen to be gaining importance, reflected in the increasing number of statisticians employed in the pharmaceutical industry, healthcare sector and medical schools. In this light, the second edition of the Encyclopedia of Biostatistics is projected to provide a timely expansion and updating of the content of the first edition. It comprises more than 1,300 articles presented in alphabetic sequence across eight volumes. Each contribution has been commissioned, reviewed and cross-referenced by the Editors-in-Chief and Editorial Board, who have taken responsibility for 19 main subject areas within the discipline.
Many crucial areas of current research in biostatistics are covered by completely new or revised articles that address topics in Bayesian methodology and applications, modelling of the spread of infectious diseases and the development of epidemics. In addition, the Encyclopedia now includes many contributions that focus on the rapid growth of bioinformatics and its pivotal role in studying the human genome.
