 BookMasters partners with Ingram Digital to provide digital content services for publishers

  Digital content services provider Ingram Digital has announced that it has been selected by BookMasters, Inc. to enhance its e-content capabilities with next generation digital asset management technology as well as tools for content discovery, sampling and marketing online. With a 40-year legacy in book printing, fulfillment and distribution, BookMasters acts as a full-service partner to publishers.

  

 Credo Reference announces basic ordering agreement with FEDLINK

  Online reference library Credo Reference has announced a Basic Ordering Agreement (BOA) with the Federal Library and Information Network (FEDLINK), to provide its online service to participating US federal libraries at a discount. With this new agreement, participating institutions are eligible for discounted pricing on subscriptions to Credo's collection of cross-searchable entries, all on one innovative and enhanced interface that also provides seamless searching from Credo into other library resources.

  

 Heart & Lung: The Journal of Acute and Critical Care named official journal of AAHFN

  STM publisher Elsevier has announced that the journal Heart & Lung: The Journal of Acute and Critical Care has become the official journal of the American Association of Heart Failure Nurses (AAHFN). The AAHFN recently announced its collaboration with the global publisher for adopting the journal as the official publication of the Association. Dr. Nancy S. Redeker will serve as associate editor representing AAHFN.

  

 World Scientific and Nature Publishing Group announce first co-publishing project

  Scientific publishers World Scientific Publishing Company (WSPC) and Nature Publishing Group have announced their first co-publishing project. Entitled 'Nanoscience and Technology: A Collection of Reviews from NATURE Journals', the publishers will launch the publication in October 2009 at Frankfurt Book Fair.

  

 Norway gains access to British National Formulary for Children through MedicinesComplete

  RPS Publishing, the publishing arm of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain, has announced an agreement with Norwegian Electronic Health Library to allow all citizens of Norway access to the British National Formulary for Children online. Citizens of Norway will now have access to detailed paediatric drug information on the publisher's innovative digital platform, MedicinesComplete.

  

 Emerald acquires Agricultural Finance Review journal from Cornell University

  Academic and professional literature publisher Emerald Group Publishing Ltd. has announced the acquisition of the journal Agricultural Finance Review from Cornell University. The journal is edited by Professor Calum G Turvey, who currently holds the W.I. Myers Professor of Agricultural Finance position at Cornell University, USA.

  

 SAGE set to publish Australian Journal of Management

  Academic publisher SAGE has announced a publishing partnership with the Australian School of Business at the University of New South Wales. Under the deal, SAGE will publish the Australian Journal of Management from 2010. The first issue to be published by SAGE will be vol. 35 issue 1, year 2010. The journal will publish three issues per year from 2010.

  

 NBD Biblion selects Primo and Aleph by Ex Libris

  Library solutions provider Ex Libris Group has announced that NBD Biblion has selected the Company’s Primo discovery and delivery solution, and the Aleph integrated library system. Reaching five million citizens of the Netherlands, NBD Biblion offers products and services to hundreds of public libraries in the Netherlands, including central IT services, a national distribution service, and a central online catalogue of over 600,000 titles.

 CCH launches IntelliConnect

  CCH, a Wolters Kluwer business, has announced the launch of IntelliConnect, an online research platform, across Asia Pacific. Built from the ground up based on understanding the customers research needs, IntelliConnect is a global platform that has been localised to meet the needs of professionals in the Asia Pacific region.

  

 ResearchBlogging now supports peer-reviewed research in Spanish

  Science media company Seed Media Group (SMG) has announced that ResearchBlogging.org, the blog platform for discussions surrounding peer-reviewed research, now supports blogs in Spanish. Spanish is the third language supported by the site, which has been collating research-related posts in German and English since August 2008.

  

 RSC Publishing announces launch of polymer journal

  Scientific publisher RSC Publishing, the publishing arm of the Royal Society of Chemistry, has announced the 2010 launch of a new peer-reviewed journal - Polymer Chemistry - encompassing all aspects of synthetic and biological macromolecules, and related emerging areas. Professor David Haddleton of the University of Warwick will serve as Editor-in-Chief of the journal.

  

 ebrary launches integrated products for corporations, expands corporate sales team

  Digital content products and technologies provider ebrary has announced the availability of new collections in Engineering and Business under flexible subscription and purchase models. These collections can be enhanced with purchases of individual titles and discounted bundles as well as a corporation's own mission critical documents submitted into the ebrary system. Additionally, ebrary has announced the recent expansion of its corporate sales team with the appointment of Matt Shill as Director, North American Corporate & Government Sales.

  

 Inderscience launches new journals

  STM and business publisher Inderscience recently published the first issues of four new titles. The new titles are: International Journal of Computational Intelligence Studies; International Journal of Critical Accounting; International Journal of Industrial Electronics and Drives; and International Journal of Renewable Energy Technology.

  

 Elsevier's PharmaPendium launches FDA Classic Collection

  STM publisher Elsevier has announced that its online resource for authoritative drug safety data, PharmaPendium, has significantly expanded its coverage of US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approval documents with the launch of the FDA Classic Collection. This collection contains all available historical FDA approval documents up to and including those issued in 1991 - all indexed and made searchable for the first time in history.

  

 InnoCentive, NPG launch Open Innovation Pavilion for scientific community

  InnoCentive, Inc., the provider of a global open innovation marketplace, and scientific publisher Nature Publishing Group (NPG) have announced the launch of the nature.com Open Innovation Pavilion. Jointly hosted on InnoCentive.com and nature.com, the website seeks to provide a hub for scientific collaboration and open innovation.

  

 Seed Media launches new initiatives in scientific communication

  Science media company Seed Media Group has announced the launch of several new initiatives and innovations in scientific communication. Seed CEO Adam Bly launched these initiatives at the recently concluded Society for Scholarly Publishing (SSP) Annual Meeting in Baltimore, MD.

  

 American Ceramic Society set to launch new journal

  The American Ceramic Society (ACerS) is set to launch a new, peer-reviewed scientific journal - The International Journal of Applied Glass Science (IJAGS) - dedicated to glass research. Dr. L. David Pye, dean and professor of glass science, emeritus, at the New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred University, has agreed to serve as the founding editor of the journal. He will be supported by an international advisory board.

  

 Informa Healthcare offering journals via single platform

  Medical scientific publisher Informa Healthcare has announced that with access to more than 170 peer-reviewed journals, the new Informa Healthcare site will have over 276,000 articles from leading pharmaceutical science and medicine journals. The combination of Informa Healthcare’s clinical medicine, allied health, life science, toxicology and pharmaceutical science journal portfolio on a single platform is expected to simplify the customer experience.

  

 BMJ Group to publish themed editions of the British Journal of Sports Medicine

  Scientific and medical publisher The BMJ Group has announced that it will publish additional themed editions of the British Journal of Sports Medicine (BJSM), supported by the International Olympic Committee (IOC). The themed editions, which focus on injury prevention and health protection, will be launched in September 2009, with the first issue dedicated to sudden cardiac death in athletes. Subsequent editions will appear quarterly in print and online.

 CIBER survey to examine electronic resources changes and trends in tough economy

  The Centre for Information Behaviour and the Evaluation of Research (CIBER) research group has announced that it will conduct a global library survey to understand electronic resources challenges, trends and best practices in tough economic times. Sponsored by ebrary, a provider of digital content products and technologies, the survey will be available in Fall 2009 to all libraries. It is based on input from more than 170 librarians, and results will be announced during the Charleston Conference in November.

 NPG selects Confirmit platform for customer feedback

  Scientific publisher Nature Publishing Group (NPG) has chosen Confirmit Horizons, a multi-mode platform for customer/employee feedback and market research, as its end-to-end customer feedback solution. Confirmit will enable NPG to survey its readers and deploy reader panels for its flagship weekly scientific journal, Nature, and for its scholarly website, www.nature.com.

  

 EBSCO Publishing enhances suite of corporate learning resources

  Electronic research databases provider EBSCO Publishing has announced enhancements to Learning Centers and Business Basics, its suite of corporate learning resources. The aim is to make it easier for corporate learning and training professionals to offer premium learning content in their formal and e-learning programmes. EBSCO's Learning Centers and Business Basics are projected to offer broad coverage of current thinking on a wide range of core competencies, as well as information for new managers and managers covering new areas within a corporation.

 HighWire Press witnesses increase in books hosting programme

  HighWire Press, a division of the Stanford University Libraries, has announced a marked increase in the growth of its books programme. Over 30 new titles have been launched online so far this year and hundreds more are scheduled through 2009 and early 2010. In addition to over 100 books, reference works, and other non-journal content sites, HighWire hosts the definitive editions of over 1,200 full text journals in the fields of science, technology, medicine, social sciences and humanities.

  

 Membership at iThenticate’s CrossCheck community crosses 50th mark

  Web-based content verification technology provider iThenticate has announced the addition of the 51st publisher to its CrossCheck user community. CrossCheck comprises publishers and societies across the world who use iThenticate technology in the editorial process, as well as deposit their respective published scholarly articles in iThenticate's comparison databases. Growing at a rate of 20 million pages a day, the iThenticate database enables its web-based plagiarism prevention services to rapidly check information for originality against an unprecedented volume of public and proprietary information.

 Publishers' Association reports success with anti-piracy web tool

  An anti-piracy web tool launched by the Publishers' Association in February has reportedly recorded about 800 illegally uploaded texts and successfully helped to remove almost 90 percent of them from the web. However, association representatives have sought 'proactive and dynamic' work in view of the speed with which new sites appear. Over the next quarter, the portal is looking to tackle 'torrent sites' that offer peer-to-peer sharing of infringing copies via multiple users sharing content.

  

 American Institute of Physics expands use of Copyright Clearance Center's Rightslink service

  Non-profit copyright licensing solution provider Copyright Clearance Center (CCC) has announced that The American Institute of Physics (AIP) has expanded its use of Rightslink. Rightslink is an online service from CCC that provides a content licensing solution for publishers. By expanding its use of the Rightslink service, AIP seeks to provide a quick and easy way for authors and customers to order reprints, purchase published works and manage charge processing in an efficient, online environment.

  

 Publishing Technology to integrate CCC's Rightsconnect licensing functionality with IngentaConnect

  Non-profit copyright licensing solution provider Copyright Clearance Center (CCC) and publishing-specific software solutions provider Publishing Technology plc have announced that they will integrate Rightsconnect licensing functionality with the scholarly hosting platform, IngentaConnect. Publishing Technology's publishers will now be able to offer their users instant permission to license and reuse their content right where they view it, all in a matter of minutes.

  

 University of Texas System expands its use of Copyright Clearance Center's Annual Copyright License

  Non-profit copyright licensing solution provider Copyright Clearance Center (CCC) has announced that the University of Texas System has expanded its adoption of CCC's Annual Copyright License from its Austin campus to the entire UT System, covering more than 150,000 undergraduate and graduate students and nearly 13,000 faculty members. The nine academic campuses and six health institutions comprising the University of Texas System make it one of the largest higher education systems in the United States.

 Bowker, Impelsys announce joint-marketing programme

  Bibliographic information provider Bowker and e-content delivery solutions provider Impelsys, Inc. have announced a joint-marketing programme that will enhance the discoverability of more than nine million titles that are commercially available in Bowker's Books in Print catalogue. Integrated within Bowker's new SEO Title Cards, Impelsys' iPublishWidgets will enhance Bowker's capacity to effectively market and sell books to consumers.

 The SBS delivers annual meeting posters and abstracts online with commenting functionality

  The Society for Biomolecular Sciences (SBS) has announced the delivery of their Annual Meeting posters and abstracts with online commenting through Poster Hall 2.0, developed by Conference Archives, Inc. The SBS e-poster website, accessible to SBS members, brings together posters and abstracts from the 2008 and 2009 SBS Annual Conference & Exhibitions.

  

 Managing Data for Science ICSTI 2009 conference

  The International Council for Scientific and Technical Information (ICSTI) has announced that online registration for the Managing Data for Science ICSTI 2009 Conference will close on June 3, 2009, at 23:59 EST.  JISC announces Digital Content Conference

  The UK's JISC has announced that researchers, librarians, publishers and policy makers will be gathering in Gloucestershire on June 30 and July 1 to discuss the issues they face in creating, delivering and sustaining digitised content. As JISC's digitisation programme enters a new phase of enhancing previously unseen and difficult to access materials, experts from across libraries, museums and the private sector will look into future opportunities and challenges at the event.

 DeepDyve unveils free search tools for websites, bloggers

  DeepDyve, a US-based provider of research engine for the deep web, has released a trio of free tools that allows websites to incorporate powerful search capabilities for a more compelling user experience. The new tools enable websites and bloggers to quickly and easily display related articles and search results directly within their sites and blog posts. These tools complement the company's recently announced suite of publisher tools which utilise DeepDyve's search technology to make publisher content more findable from anywhere on the web.

 Elsevier names Chris Dillon as Managing Director, Clinical Decision Support group

  STM publisher Elsevier has announced that Chris Dillon has joined Elsevier Health Sciences as Managing Director for the Clinical Decision Support (CDS) group. Dillon will assume responsibility for all CDS operations and strategy, including product development, marketing and sales. He will provide overall vision to further the CDS mission to help healthcare organizations improve outcomes, streamline workflow and enhance care.
