US ProQuest expands remote and mobile access with Google Scholar - 20 Jun 2018

ProQuest has added support for two new Google Scholar features, giving academic researchers round-the-clock access to scholarly full-text articles and graduate works from anywhere in the world.

Now, researchers who use Google Scholar can more easily discover and access the scholarly journal articles, dissertations and theses in their library's ProQuest databases with the help of Google Scholar CASA remote access and Mobile access with Quick Abstracts.

ProQuest has added support for Google Scholar's Campus Activated Subscriber Access (CASA) service, giving students and faculty an easy way to retrieve content from anywhere in the world. With CASA, academic researchers can access the full-text scholarly ProQuest content their institution subscribes to – including journals, dissertations and theses – when they are studying or working remotely and IP authentication is not available.

Mobile access with Quick Abstracts significantly improves the workflow of researchers that use their mobile phones to search and retrieve ProQuest content. Quick Abstracts - available for all content indexed on Google Scholar - lets users quickly read abstracts and browse through articles on Google Scholar when using mobile devices.

Customers can begin using these features automatically, with no setup required. They will also see millions of additional scholarly full-text articles from ProQuest indexed in Google Scholar since the company began using the service in 2015.

UK University of Cergy-Pontoise opts for Ex Libris campusM mobile platform - 20 Jun 2018

Ex Libris®, a ProQuest company, has announced that the University of Cergy-Pontoise (UCP) in Paris has selected the Ex Libris campusMTM mobile platform to enhance communication and services for students and staff across its six campuses. The platform will enable the university to deliver dynamic, personalised content and apps on smartphones, tablets, and web browsers.

The university made the decision to replace its static browser-based web portal with campusM in response to input from a diverse student body comprising digital natives, who expect instant access to campus systems, services, and content regardless of time and location. With the campusM platform, the university will have the tools to provide real-time, on-demand access to information that will help students succeed. UCP will also use campusM to create innovative student services in order to increase student satisfaction, engagement, and retention.

The Ex Libris campusM mobile app platform has been implemented by leading universities across Europe, the US, and the Asia-Pacific region to deliver personalised services and content. A flexible platform, campusM can be integrated with various campus systems, including student records systems, learning management systems, and library solutions. Non-technical administrators are easily able to create and publish dynamic content and real-time information and deliver it to specific groups of users, while IT professionals can use the campusM Application Extension Kit to develop new mobile apps on the iOS and Android platforms.
