US Elsevier launches new book serial - Developments in Neuroethics and Bioethics - 21 Feb 2019

Elsevier, the global information analytics business specialising in science and health, has launched a new serial covering a diversity of disciplines within Neuroethics and Bioethics. Publishing one volume a year and overseen by Serial Editor Dr. Judy Illes, this landmark serial will provide the authority and expertise of leading contributors from an international board of authors.

Endeavours to understand the mechanisms underlying pain raise significant ethical, legal and social issues. For the first time, this volume edited by Drs. Daniel Z. Buchman and Karen D. Davis bring together content experts in the fields of pain, pediatrics, neuroscience, brain imaging, bioethics, health humanities, and the law to provide insight into the timely topic of pain neuroethics.

This volume is aimed at interdisciplinary scholars in pain research, treatment, and management as well as clinicians, educators, and graduate students. The content includes representatives from a diversity of disciplines, which should be appealing to those interested in issues ranging from basic science to the humanities.

The first volume is available in print and electronic format; volumes following in 2019 and 2020 cover Mental Health as Public Health and Ethical Dimensions of Commercial and DIY Neurotechnologies.

UK Figshare offers its platform as new OA publishing tool at Amsterdam University Press - 21 Feb 2019

Amsterdam University Press (AUP) has announced a partnership with Figshare to further its commitment to open access publishing.

AUP will use the repository software to quickly and efficiently make its manuscripts and supplementary data publicly available in their branded portal, aup.figshare.com.

Users will also be able to submit their data in an easy-to-use submission system. Content published in the portal will benefit from tracked usage metrics - including Altmetrics - clear licencing information, previewed files, a citable digital object identifier (DOI), and more.

According to Jan-Peter Wissink, Managing Director of Amsterdam University Press, Figshare offers its platform as a new open access publishing tool at AUP. This will help the authors to increase the visibility and usage of their work and will enable more researchers to read these publications, including those who would otherwise not be able to access that information.
