US Cell Press selected to publish Molecular Therapy family of journals - 31 Oct 2016

Molecular Therapy, the official journal of The American Society of Gene and Cell Therapy (ASGCT), has a new home at Cell Press, a publisher of biomedical and chemical research and reviews. This new publishing partnership, to begin in January 2017, will see Cell Press produce and distribute ASGCT's four journals, which include its flagship title along with open-access options Molecular Therapy - Methods & Clinical Development, Molecular Therapy - Nucleic Acids, and Molecular Therapy - Oncolytics.

ASGCT (@ASGCTherapy), established in 1996, is a non-profit organization based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin that represents the largest community of basic researchers and clinicians devoted to the discovery of gene and cell therapies in the United States and worldwide. The Society launched Molecular Therapy in 2000, which has since become the most cited journal in gene therapy, and has expanded its offerings to the scientific community with new journal launches and special issues.

With the addition of ASGCT, Cell Press now publishes a total of 38 journals, including the flagship Cell, Neuron, Current Biology, and most recently Chem. Other selected society partners include: The American Society of Human Genetics (AJHG); the Biophysical Society (Biophysical Journal); the International Society for Stem Cell Research (Stem Cell Reports), and the Institute of Plant Physiology and Ecology, Shanghai Institutes for Biological Sciences, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Chinese Society of Plant Biology (Molecular Plant).

US Oxford University Press to publish GigaScience - 31 Oct 2016

Academic publisher Oxford University Press (OUP) has announced its partnership with BGI. Beginning January 2017, Oxford University Press (OUP) will publish the open-access, open-data journal, GigaScience. The journal has an international and multidisciplinary editorial board led by Dr. Laurie Goodman as Editor-in-Chief and Dr. Scott Edmunds as Executive Editor.

GigaScience is an innovative open access, open data, open peer-review journal with a focus on 'big data' research from the full spectrum of the life and biomedical sciences. It publishes all research objects (data, software tools, and workflows) via a novel publishing platform.

In the tradition of other Oxford University Press Journals, the manuscripts published will rely on a thorough peer review process, and techniques will be published with the sufficient detail that other laboratories can use them independently. GigaScience will continue to be a valuable resource for the scientific community to find valuable information, data and tools for their research.

US SPARC launches integrated resource to understand, compare federal article and data-sharing policies - 31 Oct 2016

SPARC has released a new, integrated resource for tracking, comparing, and understanding U.S. federal agencies' article and data sharing policies. This free tool combines a new analysis of federal public access plans for sharing peer-reviewed research articles with the federal data sharing policy resource that SPARC launched earlier this year in partnership with Johns Hopkins University Libraries. The resource is available at researchsharing.sparcopen.org.

On November 2, at 3pm EDT / 12pm PDT, SPARC will host a webcast to demonstrate this new resource and explore how libraries are taking the lead in supporting compliance with federal public access policies, featuring representatives from Florida State University and Emory University. The webcast is open to all SPARC members, and registration is free but required.

This integrated policy resource can be used by researchers, librarians, policy makers, and other stakeholders to explore and compare agency plans for sharing articles and data. The new article-sharing analysis provides a tool for tracking practical information that can be used by active or prospective grant awardees to understand when, how, and where they need to make their manuscripts accessible, including links to each agency's submission portal. As with the data-sharing resource, it will be updated as additional federal agency plans are released and analyzed and as current plans are revised.

This resource is openly available at researchsharing.sparcopen.org under a CC0 waiver. Additionally, the entire dataset of the policy analyses can be downloaded without restriction from the site under the same terms.

China Emerald Group Publishing and Hangzhou Dianzi University announce strategic alliance - 31 Oct 2016

Academic publisher Emerald Group Publishing and Hangzhou Dianzi University (HDU) have entered into an agreement for strategic alliance in support of Emerald's Chinese Management Studies (CMS) journal.

The collaboration is an extension of an already established working relationship between the two organisations, as HDU is a valued customer of Emerald's online collection of academic journals. HDU and Emerald will pursue new opportunities centred around CMS, including support of an annual management conference at HDU.

CMS was first published in 2007; and, in less than a decade, it has become a prestigious journal indexed in the Thomson Reuters Social Science Citation Index and in Scopus.

The journal seeks to provide in-depth analysis of Chinese managerial thinking, philosophy and processes through empirical pieces on Chinese management, as well as interviews and dialogue to reflect current thinking on management by leading Chinese officials, academics and personalities.

Chinese Management Studies fosters research by Chinese scholars across China, as well as the work of international researchers. In doing so, it demonstrates the range of management research capabilities within China together with the interest shown in Chinese management around the globe.
