US Elsevier announces publication of seven new oil and gas industry titles - 16 Jun 2017

STM publisher Elsevier has announced the publication of Compositional Grading in Oil and Gas Reservoirs by Rogerio Oliveira Esposito, Pedro Henrique Rodrigues Alijó, Jose Antonio Scilipoti and Frederico Wanderley Tavares. One of seven new oil and gas industry titles, this valuable reference offers instruction, examples and case studies to respond to the challenges of modelling a compositional gradient subject. It combines practical studies with the importance of modelling more complex phenomena, enabling current and upcoming reservoir engineers to produce stronger production curves, reserve estimations, and future development strategies. Multiple examples and case studies are included to help them make sense of their reservoir's output results.

The seven new oil and gas industry titles are: Compositional Grading in Oil and Gas Reservoirs by Rogerio Oliveira Esposito, Pedro Henrique Rodrigues Alijó, Jose Antonio Scilipoti and Frederico Wanderley Tavares by Robert Bruce Hey; Fire Pump Arrangements at Industrial Facilities, Third Edition by Dennis P. Nolan; Pipeline Integrity: Management and Risk Evaluation, Second Edition by Ramesh Singh; Lacustrine Shale Gas: Case Study from the Ordos Basin by Xiangzeng Wang; The Science and Technology of Unconventional Oils: Finding Refining Opportunities by Magdalena Ramirez-Corredores; and Blowout and Well Control Handbook, Second Edition by Robert D. Grace.

In order to meet content needs in the oil and gas industries, Elsevier uses proprietary tools to identify the gaps in coverage of the topics. Editorial teams strategically fill those gaps with content written by key influencers in the field, giving students, faculty and researchers the content they need to answer challenging questions and improve outcomes. These new books will seek to educate the next generation of oil and gas engineers, and provide critical foundational content for information professionals.

Australia Clarivate Analytics and the University of Melbourne collaborate to support the ARC Training Centre for Personalized Therapeutics Technologies in advancing Australian biomedical research - 16 Jun 2017

Clarivate Analytics has announced its collaboration with the University of Melbourne, which is leading the ARC Training Centre for Personalized Therapeutics Technologies, a collaboration between University of Melbourne, Monash University, University of Western Australia and 15 partner organizations including Clarivate.

Funded by the Australian Research Council's (ARC) Industrial Transformation Training Centres schemes over five years, the Centre is led by Professor Alastair Stewart from the Department of Pharmacology and Therapeutics, University of Melbourne. The Centre aims to create and develop in Australia the skills and technology to generate early benefits from the transformative impacts that cell/organ-on-a chip technology will have on the medical technology and pharmaceutical industries, as well as deliver on the potential of the era of personalised medicine. Guiding therapeutic use by personalised bioassays promises to enable disease to be modelled or diagnosed with increased precision.

As industry partner of the Centre, Clarivate Analytics will provide significant in-kind support by having its senior life sciences solutions expert conduct an annual master class over five years for researchers on topics covering how to identify competitors, achieve clinical milestones, map the intellectual property (IP) landscape of similar clinical targets and assess the value of drug discovery. To help master class students gain practical know-how, Clarivate will also provide free access to its flagship pharma intelligence software, Cortellis Competitive Intelligence, for a limited period.

Currently, Clarivate conducts commercialisation, partnering and regulatory intelligence lectures which form the curriculum in the Masters of Biotechnology Undergraduate program offered by the University of Melbourne.

NHS Confederation has announced a partnership with RCNi, a health information and learning provider for nurses, to offer its members a discount on subscriptions to RCNi Portfolio and RCNi Learning.

These RCNi online resources help organisations support nurses through revalidation - the process that all nurses and midwives in the UK need to follow to maintain their registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council - while improving staff retention and reducing recruitment costs.

RCNi Portfolio is tailored to the NMC's requirements and lets nurses store and track their evidence for revalidation in one easy to manage online space. It also includes access to 50 valuable CPD articles and interactive self-assessment exercises to help nurses build their evidence.

RCNi Learning, an interactive, online learning resource for nurses, is accredited by the Royal College of Nursing and proven to promote best practice, provide effective education outcomes and improve patient care. The 198 modules are accessible on any smartphone or tablet, which enables nurses to learn at a time and place that is convenient for them.

RCNi Portfolio and RCNi Learning is available to NHS Confederation members individually or as part of a package.
