UK Joint Consortia Framework ranks ProQuest as key supplier for print and ebooks - 07 Jul 2017

ProQuest has been ranked highly in every print and ebook category for the Joint Consortia Framework Agreement in the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland. These rankings come on the heels of major innovations in the ProQuest® OASIS® and Ebook Central® platforms, and recognises ProQuest's ongoing commitment to advance book products and systems. The Joint Consortia Framework is one of the world's major book tenders, serving 9 major UK-based academic consortia and selecting the best suppliers to partner with the consortia's hundreds of member universities, colleges and special libraries.

Through ProQuest, consortia members will access the industry's best and broadest book offerings, spanning more than 25 million print titles and over 1.5 million ebooks. ProQuest offers the most expansive range of acquisition models, including the new Access-to-Own offering – enabling libraries to balance collection goals and budgets. Print fulfillment will be managed through ProQuest's renowned distribution center in the UK, which provides customised services including shelf-ready books, and speeds the time from order to delivery.

Member workflows will be simplified through ProQuest's tight integration with the Alma® system as well as other library systems. Additional services include Collection Development Consultants and UK-based customer and technical services teams that will partner with members on content curation, technical integrations, and other operational efficiencies.

UK Taylor & Francis Group names Annie Callanan as CEO - 07 Jul 2017

Academic publisher Taylor & Francis Group has announced the appointment of Annie Callanan as its new CEO. Annie is a highly experienced leader of technology and information services businesses with a track record of operational improvement and innovation.

She has worked extensively in the knowledge and information sector. She joins Taylor & Francis from Quantros, where she has been serving as CEO. Previous roles include President and CEO of Bowker, a global information services company providing search, data, discovery and electronic book ordering services; and Chief Operating Officer of ProQuest, a global leader in content, information resources and technologies for libraries and researchers. She has also held positions on the boards of directors of the Association of American Publishers and the International ISBN Agency.

Annie takes over from Roger Horton, who has retired after leading Taylor & Francis for 14 years.

Netherland American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics joins ACCUCOMS’ Aggregagent collections - 07 Jul 2017

ACCUCOMS, an independent provider of services to academic and professional publishers, has signed another prestigious publisher to join its Aggregagent collections. Aerospace publisher American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) has made its content available through ACCUCOMS' Aggregagent.

US American Academy of Neurology names Dr. Joseph E. Safdieh as new editor-in-chief of Neurology Today - 07 Jul 2017

The American Academy of Neurology (AAN) has named Dr. Joseph E. Safdieh as the new editor-in-chief of Neurology Today, the official news source of the AAN. Safdieh began his role on July 1, 2017, after a transition period with outgoing Editor-in-Chief Steven P. Ringel, MD, FAAN.

Safdieh is the inaugural Louis and Rachel Rudin Foundation Education Scholar and associate professor and vice chairman of neurology for education at Weill Cornell Medicine. He is also an associate attending neurologist at NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center, where he is the director of the neurology clinic.

Safdieh has been associate editor of CME and self-assessment for the AAN's Continuum: Lifelong Learning in Neurology® since 2015. He has also served as Fall Conference Director for the AAN's Neurology Update program since 2013, and has chaired the Distance Learning Subcommittee, the Consortium of Neurology Clerkship Directors and the Medical Student Self-Assessment Exam Work Group.

Neurology Today is published twice a month and reports on breaking news, issues and trends in the practice and science of neurology, reaching 25,000 professionals. It delivers credible, up-to-the-minute, balanced, cutting-edge reporting and commentary for today's busy neurology professionals.
