UK CSPO names Prof. Robert Ivkov as Editor-in-Chief - 10 Jan 2018

Convergent Science Physical Oncology (CSPO) has named Professor Robert Ivkov, from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, as its new Editor-in-Chief.

As Associate Professor of Radiation Oncology and Molecular Radiation Sciences at Johns Hopkins, Professor Ivkov's research encompasses physics, biology, chemistry, and engineering, making him ideally placed to lead a journal that highlights the convergence of different disciplines to tackle cancer.

Professor Ivkov co-founded a start-up biotechnology company and worked for many years developing antibody-labelled magnetic iron oxide nanoparticles as a thermal ablation tool for breast cancer. In early 2008, the company underwent a merger, and he joined the faculty at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.

Professor Ivkov's current research focuses specifically on the development and characterisation of magnetic nanostructured materials and devices for cancer therapy; and, most recently on how these interact with the complex biology and immunology of cancer.

UK Ingenta Connect integrates Google Scholarís Campus Activated Subscriber Access service - 10 Jan 2018

Academic journals aggregator Ingenta Connect has announced the integration of Google Scholar's Campus Activated Subscriber Access (CASA) service.

Google Scholar's Campus Activated Subscriber Access is a new service which expands on Google's subscriber Links programme. It enables researchers to access full text PDFs from journals to which their institution has subscribed, even when they are working remotely, and not using a university IP address.

Ingenta Connect already functions with Google's Subscriber Links service, so institutional users can link directly from Google Scholar search results to subscribed content - but only if they are on campus. Campus Activated Subscriber Access extends this feature off-site. Researchers discovering content via Google Scholar which their affiliated institution has the right to use can access this same content off-campus as they do on-campus. No additional off-campus login is necessary, resulting in an easier, smoother way for legitimate users to access the content hosted on Ingenta Connect, wherever they might be.
