Elsevier announces beta launch of WiserWiki - 31 Jan 2008

STM publisher Elsevier, Netherlands, has announced the beta launch of WiserWiki, a wiki that allows board-certified physicians to collaboratively contribute and update medical information online. The site, which is open to and viewable by the public, is seeded with content from The Textbook of Primary Care Medicine (3rd Edition, 2001) by Dr. John Noble. Published by Mosby, an Elsevier imprint, the textbook was one of Elsevier's best-selling medical textbooks.

No longer in print, the textbook seeding WiserWiki contains in-depth information on a full-range of medical problems, conditions and diseases encountered in the practices of family physicians, general internists, medical and surgical subspecialists, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants.

WiserWiki provides exposure for physicians who wish to publish relevant, up-to-date and insightful medical content based on personal experience and expertise. It hopes to maintain a high level of relevancy and trustworthiness by ensuring that editorial privileges remain restricted to medical professionals.

Latest version of InSight Publisher launched with improved submission linking capabilities - 31 Jan 2008

Regulatory software vendor Liquent, part of Thomson Scientific, US, has announced the availability of InSight Publisher 3.6. The latest version of InSight Publisher adds intuitive hyperlinking and cross-reference management to its enhanced functionality set.

Launched in 2006, InSight Publisher seeks to enable pharmaceutical companies to create, manage and publish regulatory submissions in both paper and electronic format using a single software application. The latest version helps companies enable cross-referencing in all critical stages of submission development - during authoring and submission preparation, and post publishing. By offering support at all three critical stages, the tool will help companies streamline the cross-referencing tasks and improve efficiencies during the publishing process.

Liquent expects the latest version of InSight Publisher to not only address core cross-referencing requirements, but also the new cross-referencing complexities brought on by eCTD lifecycle management such as managing cross-sequence references and stale references. In 2007, Liquent completed a number of worldwide implementations of InSight Publisher with its clients ahead of the project timelines and on or below budget.
