In a similar move, in July 2008, medical information provider Wolters Kluwer Health launched Mobile Clin-eguide for its IP-authenticated Clin-eguide subscribers for 'on the go' and point of care use on Palm OS, Windows Mobile, Blackberry, and iPhone devices.

Texterity launches new digital magazine service, Coverleaf - 17 Sep 2008
Digital publishing solutions provider Texterity, Inc., US, has launched Coverleaf (http://www.coverleaf.com), a new digital magazine service. The service allows readers to access magazines using a wide array of tools and options, and integrates with a digital magazine delivery system specifically designed for the Apple iPhone and iPod touch. Coverleaf.com brings the experience of in-person leafing through and sharing magazine articles to the web by allowing readers to browse for new magazines online via search and 'look inside' technology. Using the service, readers can expect to freely browse through categories of magazines, pick one off a digital shelf and see the entire table of contents. They can click on any article, clip pages to share them with friends, as well as preview any magazine at no cost. Readers can also subscribe to either the print or digital versions of a magazine, or buy a single copy of the current or back issue of a digital magazine. The service is expected to substantially improve the economics for consumer publishers by increasing the number of subscriber e-mail addresses on file, lowering the costs associated with retaining subscribers. In addition, Coverleaf.com claims to provide a new, powerful viral marketing channel to improve reader engagement with advertisers. At scale, the service is projected to offer a new standard of audience measurement, which in turn would deliver a stronger return on investments for advertisers. Coverleaf.com also offers the ability to include sound, video and hotlinks for publishers, thereby creating new custom marketing opportunities. The beta version of the service was launched in June 2008. Publishers including Meredith and F+W Publications were among the first to join the launch.
