Publishing Technology appoints Rebecca Cullen and Toby Plewak as Customer Strategists - 18 Jul 2012 Publishing-specific software solutions provider Publishing Technology plc, UK, has announced two new appointments designed to lead and consult on the digital publishing strategy of customers on the pub2web platform.
Effective this month, Rebecca Cullen and Toby Plewak each assume the role of Customer Strategist in the Oxford (UK) and Cambridge (US) offices respectively. The new positions will provide strategic consultancy and guidance for the future development and evolution of each pub2web site, specialist sales support, and in-depth knowledge of the technology environment.
Rebecca Cullen brings with her a wealth of publishing and project management knowledge obtained from Oxford University Press in Oxford and New York, as well as from Greenwood and Osprey Publishing. Toby Plewak will apply his publishing, product development and technology experience gained from positions held at the Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery, the New England Journal of Medicine and the Massachusetts Historical Society. With Publishing Technology’s expanding worldwide customer base, Rebecca will manage clients in Europe while Toby works closely with US publishers.
The Customer Strategist role was created to support the company’s Perpetual Customer Service solution for helping content providers achieve their digital publishing goals. Each customer strategist will apply intimate knowledge of the custom pub2web hosting platform and the scholarly marketplace to provide advanced training and interpretation of analytics, identify and develop competitive digital revenue streams, and consult on maximizing investments and opportunities. The dedicated initiative will enable publishers to fully leverage pub2web’s unique semantic discovery framework, sophisticated ecommerce, and facilities to experiment with new business models.

 Publishing Technology appoints Kevin Haskins as Senior Business Development Executive - 08 Feb 2012 Publishing-specific software solutions provider Publishing Technology plc, UK, has announced the appointment of Kevin Haskins as Senior Business Development Executive.
Haskins brings to Publishing Technology a wealth of system and service sales experience from multiple technology verticals including digital marketing, financial, political and non-profit and at one time sold content for CQ Press. He will work from the company's North American offices in Somerset, New Jersey and Cambridge, Massachusetts. He will work alongside Director of Business Development, Linda Reiss, on sales of the company's enterprise applications suite advance in the US and Canada.
Haskins will be responsible for developing new leads for the advance modules Product Manager, Contracts, Rights & Royalties, Order to Cash and Relationship Manager within publishing and related industries.

 Publishing Technology ends year with 50 new publisher contracts - 21 Dec 2011 Publishing Technology has announced that it is finishing the year on a positive note by announcing its most successful year to date, having signed contracts with over 50 publishers.
The company is welcoming several US academic publishers to its online custom hosting platform, pub2web, including: the American Institute of Physics (AIP), American Society of Microbiology (ASM) and United Nations Publications. Publishing Technology will produce the next generation Scitation site for AIP, work closely with ASM to create the largest resource of microbiology research online and build a custom site for the UN that will become home to 5,300 publications. In addition to this, a further 24 publishers are to host their journal-based content on ingentaconnect.
Publishing Technology also expanded into new geographical markets, rolling out its operations into India and launching into China, which culminated in a partnership with the China National Publications Import and Export Corporation (CNPIEC). The enterprise side of the business secured new contracts with large and SME publishers including SAGE. The company’s sales and marketing consultancy, Publishers Communication Group (PCG), partnered with the likes of the Independent Scholarly Publishers Group (ISPG), Adam Matthew Group and American Psychiatric Publishing, taking its annual tally up to 16 new contracts signed.

 Publishing Technology appoints Peter Blok as EVP of Global Professional Services - 23 Nov 2011 Publishing-specific software solutions provider Publishing Technology plc, UK, has announced the appointment of Peter Blok as EVP of Global Professional Services and member of the executive team.

 Publishing Technology to offer full-service digital publishing solutions for Chinese content - 01 Sep 2011 Publishing-specific software solutions provider Publishing Technology plc, UK, has announced its expansion into the Chinese market by delivering local online hosting platforms and domestic sales representation.
Based in Beijing and managed by digital publishing expert Helen Sun, Publishing Technology China will directly target Chinese publishers, offering a complete publishing solution through ingentaconnect. Sun will combine her vast industry experience and knowledge of the Chinese market with an existing network of experienced sales representatives located around the country. The innovative technology together with native expertise will increase visibility of Chinese content, create new revenue streams, and facilitate sales to researchers and librarians globally.
The joint venture is the latest extension of Publishing Technology’s operations as demand for digital publishing solutions increases across the globe. Home to over 15,500 electronic publications and over 250 partners, the ingentaconnect interface will be offered in both Mandarin and Cantonese along with a subset of high-profile content to several thousand libraries across the country, creating a new user base for international publishers in addition to encouraging Chinese publishers to move online.
As part of the launch, the company’s Publishers Communication Group (PCG) division will also leverage the established national sales network to roll out its sales and marketing services. Initially, PCG will represent the American Association for Cancer Research in mainland China, as well as BioOne in China, Taiwan and Hong Kong.

 Publishing Technology names Jon White as Business Development Director for Australia and New Zealand - 27 Jul 2011 Publishing-specific software solutions provider Publishing Technology, UK, has announced the appointment of Jon White, former Digital Publishing Director at Macmillan Education, as the company's Business Development Director for Australia and New Zealand.
The appointment follows Publishing Technology's announcement last year that it intends to expand operations into Australia; serving both the local and New Zealand markets with its flagship enterprise application advance products, as well as its digital publishing platforms, ingentaconnect and pub2web.
Jon White is an expert in online publishing, having been Digital Publishing Director at Macmillan Education and Digital Licensing Manager at Penguin, before taking on various consulting assignments in the sector.  Publishing Technology names Michael Groth as Senior Marketing Associate - 17 May 2011 Publishing-specific software solutions provider Publishing Technology, UK, has announced the appointment of Michael Groth as the company's new Senior Marketing Associate.
Michael joins Publishing Technology from the New England Journal of Medicine (NEJM), where he held the post of Marketing Project Manager and was responsible for reaching out to the pharmaceutical industry with fresh and innovative campaigns. During this time he was instrumental to NEJM winning the MedAdNews Outstanding Advertising Award and helped increase traffic to the NEJMadsales.org website by 400 percent. Previous relevant experience includes Marketing and Product Manager roles at Northeastern University Press and Kluwer Academic Publishers, respectively.

 SAGE and Publishing Technology announce technology deal - 21 Apr 2011 Publishing Technology plc, a UK-based provider of software and services to the publishing industry, has announced an agreement for the implementation of its journal fulfilment software by academic publisher SAGE. Under the deal, SAGE will implement Publishing Technology's proven software across the business to align its journals fulfilment systems globally with the Publishing Technology systems that are already implemented at CQ Press, a Washington-based publisher which was acquired by SAGE in 2008.
Publishing Technology's journal fulfilment software will harmonise order entry, billings, access entitlement and fulfilment, as well as consortia dealings, content bundling and customer service across SAGE's business globally.
SAGE's investment in the future of its fulfilment systems begins with its journals business and is anticipated to be extended to incorporate its book titles in the following year. As part of the new contract, SAGE will also evaluate Publishing Technology's enterprise publishing application, advance, with a view to defining a clear upgrade path for the future, ensuring its technology stays at the forefront of an evolving digital publishing age.
As well as committing to extending its journals fulfilment systems, SAGE has also commissioned Publishing Technology's market communications and consultancy division, Publishers Communication Group (PCG), to carry out multi-lingual telemarketing campaigns to non-renewed subscribers to SAGE's extensive journals collection.

 Publishing Technology's new Paris office to provide on the ground support to French market - 15 Feb 2011 Publishing Technology plc, a UK-based provider of software and services to the publishing industry, has opened a Paris office which will provide on the ground support to the French market. Publishing Technology, which services eight out of ten of the world's largest publishers, already has offices in the UK (Oxford and Bath), the USA (Cambridge, MA, and Somerset, NJ), Brazil (São Paulo) and Australia (Sydney). The company will open an office in India (New Delhi) in March this year.
The new Paris office will help consolidate Publishing Technology's activities in France, and form a local sales and support structure for the wide mix of products and services the group provides. The new office was officially launched by Publishing Technology CEO, George Lossius, who has considerable experience in French publishing.
The company's activities in France will be initially supervised by Publishing Technology executives George Lossius and Emilie Delquié (a Vice President in the PCG division). Sales support will be provided by John Parsons and applications consulting by Lionel Clément, both members of Publishing Technology's existing staff.
