In February 2013, the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy issued a memorandum directing Federal agencies to expand public access to the results of taxpayer-funded research. Several means of addressing this mandate, including SHARE (offered by the ARL, AAU, and APLU) and CHORUS (offered by the AAP), have been proposed. This Midwinter Symposium, co-presented by the Association for Library Collections and Technical Services (ALCTS) and bepress Digital Commons, offers a unique opportunity to explore the complex issues surrounding the collection, organisation, delivery and preservation of federally funded research.
