Publisher AlphaMed Press, US, has announced the appointment Dr. Donald G. Phinney and Dr. Miodrag Stojkovic as co-editors of the journal Stem Cells. Current Stem Cells Editor, Curt I. Civin, retires after eight years of unprecedented growth in areas of the journal's most significant metrics: Impact Factor, number of pages published, and number of manuscripts submitted. During his tenure as editor-in-chief, Dr. Civin was assisted by three outgoing senior editors - Alan M. Gewirtz, Robert G. Hawley, and Margaret A. Goodell.
Dr. Phinney is Professor of Immunology and Microbiology and Associate Director for Research at Tulane's Center for Gene Therapy, and Dr. Stojkovic is Deputy Director of Centro de Investigacion Principe Felipe and head of its Cellular Reprogramming Laboratory, Valencia, Spain. The new editors are not new to Stem Cells. For the past year they have served as Associate Editors with responsibility to oversee the peer review of all manuscripts. They will be supported by a team of new associate editors.
An international journal of cell differentiation and proliferation, Stem Cells, publishes original articles at the leading edge of stem cell research and regenerative medicine. Beginning its 26th year of publication in 2008, the journal claims to be the first journal on this fast-paced field of research.
