Thieme releases new edition of Almanac 2008: Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine -

Thieme Publishers, part of STM publisher Thieme Publishing Group, Germany, recently announced the availability of 'Thieme Almanac 2008: Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine.' The book, the second in the annual series, fully updates the first edition, which debuted earlier this year.

The 'Thieme Almanac 2008' provides detailed information on how acupuncture could play an important role in the treatment of cancer. Also, it includes a state-by-state summary of acupuncture regulation in the US. The 500-page almanac boasts 120 additional pages.

While other information has been brought up-to-date, a wealth of new information has been added. This year's articles include a lengthy discussion on the concept of 'shen.' Other new topics include veterinary medicine, Kampo medicine, herb-drug interactions, acupuncture in the different ways it is practiced around the world, translation issues, schools and educational programmes as well as TCM demographics in 18 countries, including an extended section on the United States.

An international overview of educational programmes as well as a listing of societies and relevant organisations is updated yearly, as is information on the ever-changing laws and regulations associated with the field.
