Cambridge University Press to provide access to healthcare journals via SIMID SMILE -

Academic publisher Cambridge University Press (CUP), US, has announced a partnership with medical database provider Scientific Institute for Medical Information and Documentation (SIMID), Switzerland. Under the deal, metadata and full-text articles from CUP's portfolio of medical journals will be included in the SIMID Scientific Medical Information Library Europe (SMILE) database. With this move, the publisher seeks to increase European readership and international exposure to vital medical research.

Cambridge Journals, a division of Cambridge University Press, publishes over 220 peer reviewed academic journals across a wide spread of subject areas, in print and online. The 40-plus titles accessible via the SMILE database include leading journals in psychiatry and psychological medicine, nutrition, epidemiology, cardiology and anaesthesiology.

Launched in 2005, SIMID SMILE is a combination of a database and a library in which the metadata of medical journals and books are available and whereby the direct user access is granted to the full text. Users can now gain direct access to medical articles published in scientific journals, from publishers with whom SIMID has a contractual relationship. SIMID SMILE covers 43 medical themes such as Oncology, Cardiology, Psychiatry and Virology.
