Medical publisher BMJ Group, UK, has announced that it has acquired OnExamination.com, a UK-based provider of online exam preparation materials for doctors, medical students and other healthcare professionals. The acquisition forms part of the BMJ Group's strategy to widen its portfolio of products and services in the area of medical education.
OnExamination.com will be integrated into BMJ Learning, which currently provides online learning modules to 95,000 registered users, and Masterclasses, a provider of clinical events for general practice with over 12,000 delegates forecast to attend in 2008.
OnExamination.com was founded in 2000 by two doctors - Dr. Stephen Davis and Dr. Dean Jenkins - from Cardiff University. The site has since expanded to cover the principal post-graduate exams run by the UK royal colleges in medicine, surgery and primary care. It has recently begun to offer exam preparation for medical students and nurses and is also about to launch a resource for school leavers aiming for a career in medicine.
