McGraw-Hill Professional, part of education materials publisher McGraw-Hill Education, has announced the relaunch of its online medical resource, Scriver's Online Metabolic & Molecular Bases of Inherited Disease (OMMBID). The encyclopaedic resource for medicine and biology offers online access to various references for human genetics and inherited diseases. Targeted at physicians, geneticists, researchers, students and educators, the resource comes on a new platform with enhanced features, a redesigned interface and monthly content updates.
The editorial board of OMMBID has been expanded. Dr. David Valle of the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine serves as the new Editor-in-Chief. He is joined by editors Dr. Arthur Beaudet, Dr. Bert Vogelstein, Dr. Kenneth Kinzler, Dr. Stylianos Antonarakis and Dr. Andrea Ballabio. Former Editor-in- Chief, Dr. Charles Scriver, together with Dr. William S. Sly and Dr. Barton Childs, have been named editors emeritus.
Scriver's OMMBID seeks to combine the latest developments in genetics research with improved and continuously updated online access. Users can build their own image libraries, suggest chapter edits, add digital content notes, and conduct full-text or advanced searches. The advanced search facilities allow them to limit searches to just images or references. In addition, monthly podcasts highlight new material, while embedded searches provide one-click access to other relevant resources, such as GeneReviews, OMIM and PubMed.
OMMBID is available for individual and institutional subscriptions. The relaunched site also provides non-subscribers with the option to purchase individual or bundled PDF chapters, while subscribers have access to PDF or HTML print versions of all chapters.
