McGraw-Hill Professional and JAMA announce publishing agreement -

McGraw-Hill Professional, part of education materials publisher McGraw-Hill Education, and the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) have announced an agreement to publish three medical references and to create a new interactive digital product. The move is aimed at offering medical students and clinicians with vital print and digital resources for learning and practicing evidence-based medicine. This alliance is seen as a major step forward in building McGraw-Hill Professional's presence in the global medical education market.

McGraw-Hill Professional and JAMA will cooperatively publish three titles. These include the second edition of The User's Guides to the Medical Literature; the second edition of The User's Guides to the Medical Literature: Essentials of Evidence-based Clinical Practice; and The Rational Clinical Examination, a first edition title based on the acclaimed JAMA series of articles on evidence-based assessment of signs, symptoms, and test results. While both the User's Guides will be published in February 2008, The Rational Clinical Examination will be published in April 2008.

The agreement also covers the joint development of a state-of-the-art, interactive online product to accompany the three titles. This electronic tool provides full-text access to the content in the User's Guides and The Rational Clinical Examination, as well as innovative interactive and pedagogical features designed to help students and clinicians learn the best practice of evidence-based medicine. It is anticipated that the online product will be launched in June 2008.
