OCLC to provide Electronic Cataloging Records for Springer' eBook collection -

STM publisher Springer Science+Business Media, Germany, has partnered with global library cooperative Online Computer Library Center, Inc. (OCLC), US, to provide MARC 21 Records for the Springer eBook Collection. A standardised form of electronic cataloging records, MARC 21 Records is required for correctly locating and navigating online content from any library's Online Public Access Catalog (OPAC).

With this partnership, Springer seeks to provide flexibility and multiple options for eBook users, enabling MARC Records for Springer eBooks to current OCLC subscribers who can obtain records as per their usual download workflows. Additionally, Springer has developed it's own MARC Records, using Springer metadata, to answer the needs of non-OCLC subscribers, available both as batch-loadable files for the complete eBook Collection, as well as individually, for each of 13 individual Subject Collections. The eBook Collection and individual Subject Collections are comprised of textbooks, monographs, major reference works, handbooks and encyclopaedias.

MARC records for Springer e-book collections will be available through OCLC's WorldCat Collection Sets service at http://www.oclc.org/worldcatsets/default.htm. A minimal fee will be charged for downloading records through the collection sets. All MARC Records for Springer eBooks have been collected in one convenient location and download file.
