Ohio librarian receives Thomson Scientific' 2008 Quantum² InfoStar Award -

Information solutions provider Thomson Scientific, part of Thomson Corporation, US, has awarded the 2008 Quantum² InfoStar Award to Brian Gray of Case Western Reserve University. The announcement was made during a special ceremony at the ALA Midwinter meeting in Philadelphia.

Gray currently serves as Head of Reference and the Engineering, Mathematics, and Statistics Librarian at the Kelvin Smith Library of Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. He was chosen as a participant in the 2006 American Library Association Library 2.0 Bootcamp that was developed to explore how libraries and/or associations could use Web 2.0 tools effectively. Gray is the current web coordinator for the Library Administration and Management Association (LAMA) of ALA, and maintains a personal blog that covers engineering resources and Web 2.0 in libraries.

The company annually designates recipients of its InfoStar Awards in several regions worldwide as part of its Quantum2 programme that offers leadership development services to information professionals globally. Key characteristics of winners include strategic involvement in an organisation, proactive relationship building, innovative information services and continuous change and development.
