US-based patient education publisher Krames, part of MediMedia, has announced that it has acquired wired.MD, a leading provider of video health education content. Content is delivered via the latter's proprietary streaMed system to hospitals, health plans, universities, resource libraries, and technology companies producing video on-demand and electronic medical records systems for healthcare organisations.
The wired.MD collection of 415 video programmes is projected to complement the vast library of patient education that Krames offers to the medical markets in both print and electronic formats. Under the deal, Mark Friess will continue in his role as President of wired.MD overseeing the editorial, sales, and production teams that will remain in Portland, Oregon.
Founded in March 2000, wired.MD is an eHealth company that uses innovative technology to develop patient and consumer health education for use at the point of care and beyond. The wired.MD streaMed product suite helps healthcare organisations of all types do a better job of managing costs, compliance, and customer satisfaction.
