Chinese medical publisher announces new American operations, names new publisher -

Beijing-based medical publisher People's Medical Publishing House (PMPH) has announced the appointment of Martin J. Wonsiewicz as President and Publisher of its new American publishing operations. Wonsiewicz will lead the launch of a Connecticut-based company to sign and publish medical books and electronic products by world-class authors in both English and Chinese.

This is one of several steps PMPH is making to expand its international presence. Although 90 percent of its 1500 new books every year are in Western medicine, PMPH claims to be one of the world's leading publishers in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) such as acupuncture and moxibustion. It launched its English language list in 2006 and has so far published more than 150 books, DVD's and wall charts for international sales.

Martin has a 26-year career in medical publishing, including senior editorial positions at W. B. Saunders, Appleton & Lange, McGraw- Hill, and most recently B. C. Decker, Inc.
