STM Publisher Elsevier, Netherlands, has announced the acquisition of Edra S.p.A, an online publishing company in the healthcare sector. By combining Elsevier's content and services with Edra's electronic capabilities and online delivery channel, both companies seek to provide professional and promotional support to pharmaceutical companies. An important tool is Medikey, the largest online medical and healthcare professional community in Italy.
Elsevier Masson S.r.l, based in Milan, is the market leading provider of scientific and medical content and services, in the form of books, journals, drug databases and pharmaceutical marketing support. Also based in Milan, Edra S.p.A. provides e-pharma promotional services and is a Continual Medical Education provider certified by the Italian Ministry of Health and the region of Lombardy, both for residential and distance learning.
Edra publishes important online magazines including Doctornews33, Dermatologia33 and Cardiologia33 for doctors; and Farmacista33 and Pharmamarketing for pharmacists and pharma managers. Also, it maintains the portals such as Italian consumer health portal (www.dica33.it), medical doctors portal (www.doctor33.it) and www.pharmamarketing.it, a portal for pharmaceutical company professionals.
