Search engine and online engineering community operator GlobalSpec, US, has announced that it posted record results for 2007, reaching new milestones in revenue, registered users, new product launches and additional strategic partnerships.
In 2007, GlobalSpec experienced 35 percent revenue growth, marking the sixth consecutive year of high double-digit growth in revenue for the company. The company expanded its global user base by more than one million registered users, now exceeding four million registered users - a number that continues to grow at a rate of more than 20,000 per week. These registered users have the ability to search by over 180 million specifications in 2.3 million product families via GlobalSpec's proprietary database of more than 22,000 digitised and parametrically searchable OEM and distributor product catalogues.
GlobalSpec's suite of targeted e-newsletters focused on very specific industrial products and their related technologies also achieved new levels of scale in 2007. Over the past year, Specs & Techs, GlobalSpec's weekly showcase of new products for engineering, technical and industrial professionals, exceeded a circulation level of over 1.2 million. In all, GlobalSpec now publishes more than 57 e-newsletters with a combined opt-in circulation of 8.5 million - the largest e-newsletter circulation in the industrial space.
Also, the company extended its reach among its target audiences through a variety of new and enhanced partnerships with significant publishers, publications and associations, including Manufacturing.net, Microwave Journal, NASA Tech Briefs, Autodesk and IEEE. Visitors to GlobalSpec now have access to more than 17,000 copyrighted definitions from McGraw-Hill's Digital Engineering Library, in a variety of disciplines including chemical engineering, design engineering, electronics and mechanics.
Two major new products - The Industrial Ad Network and PartFinder - were also launched by GlobalSpec in 2007. CR4, GlobalSpec's social networking peer-to-peer community site for industrial professionals, also continued its growth in 2007 with the introduction of industry-based forums and blogs in the areas of Instrumentation, Education, and BioMech/BioMed.
