Healthcare publisher Weston Medical Publishing, US, has announced the appointment of Dr. Paul A. Sloan as Editor-in-Chief of its Journal of Opioid Management.
Professor of Anesthesiology and Oncology at the University of Kentucky, Director of the Cancer Pain Service at UK Hospital and Chairman of the University of Kentucky's Clinical research Committee, Dr. Sloan sits on the executive committee of the American Board of Hospice and Palliative Medicine. He has authored over 40 publications. As the new Editor-in-Chief, Dr. Sloan assumes the Journal's leadership role at a time when the Federal spotlight has been switched on to the rising problem of abuse and addiction tied to these prescription painkillers.
