BioMed Central brings out inaugural issue of BMC Medical Genomics -

Open access publisher BioMed Central, US, has announced the launch of a new open access journal - BMC Medical Genomics. The journal is the latest addition to the BMC-series, a group of open access, peer-reviewed research-only journals that spans most areas of biological and clinical research. Dr Melissa Norton serves as Editor-in-Chief of the journal, the first issue of which was published in January 2008.

BMC Medical Genomics publishes original peer-reviewed research articles in all aspects of functional genomics, genome structure, genome-scale population genetics, epigenomics, proteomics, systems analysis, and pharmacogenomics in relation to human health and disease. As an electronic-only journal, it gives authors the opportunity to publish large data sets, large numbers of illustrations and moving pictures, to display data in a form that can be read directly by other software packages.

As with the other medical journals in the BMC series, BMC Medical Genomics will use open peer review. The journal will be indexed/tracked/covered by PubMed, BIOSIS, CAS and Google Scholar.
