Osteopathic Medicine and Primary Care completes first year of publication -

Open access publisher BioMed Central, US, has announced that its journal, Osteopathic Medicine and Primary Care, has completed its first year of publication. Editors-in-Chief John Licciardone and Roberto Cardarelli, have published an editorial detailing the progress of the journal to date, and looking forwards the future.

The article comments on the benefits of open access for the community, current submission to publication times and plans to bring these down to 120 days in 2008, and invites readers to post comments on published articles. The Editors also detail information on journal fund they have established to assist with payment of the article-processing charge.

Osteopathic Medicine and Primary Care is an open access, peer-reviewed online journal that encompasses all aspects of family medicine, internal medicine, pediatrics, and obstetrics and gynecology. The journal publishes health service and public health research that addresses primary care issues. In addition, osteopathic medicine articles may also cover uniquely osteopathic topics, such as osteopathic manipulative treatment and its mechanisms of action, reliability of palpatory findings, clinical outcomes, and efficacy in treating a variety of musculoskeletal conditions or related disorders.
