STM publisher Springer, Germany, has announced that its website MDCT.net marks the successful completion of its first year online. This editorial product offers scientific information via the Internet to professionals on multidetector computed tomography (MDCT) technology and practice. The website seeks to keep the radiology community updated on recent developments, to provide information that may improve standards of practice and to promote the worldwide dissemination of relevant guidelines and scanning protocols.
MDCT.net is coordinated by a scientific board of five internationally recognised MDCT experts as well as a team of web programmers and medical writers. The website, launched during last year's European Congress of Radiology in Vienna, is supported by an educational grant from Bracco. Dedicated to the professional user, MDCT.net represents an important source of news and analysis of clinical and technological developments in multidetector CT, provided in the News and Hot Topics columns. It is also projected as an important educational site, which not only permits users to practice their radiological reading skills (Clinical Cases), but also allows them to access recommended scanning protocols and view video recordings of conference presentations (e-Lectures).
Registered users can access selected monographs and journal articles from Springer and have a direct link to PubMed for literature by other publishers. A newsletter and utilities such as the glomerular filtration rate (GFR) and dose-flux calculators are other important services for professionals.
