Academic publisher SAGE has announced the 2009 launch of a new sports medicine journal titled Sports Health: A Multidisciplinary Approach. The journal is a collaborative publication of the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine (AOSSM), American Medical Society of Sports Medicine (AMSSM), National Athletic Trainers' Association (NATA) and the Sports Physical Therapy Section (SPTS).
Sports Health features associate editors from each of the collaborating organisations. Dr. Edward M. Wojtys, Dr. George J. Davies, Dr. Matthew Gammons and Dr. Riann Palmeri-Smith are the founding editors. Editor-in-chief Dr. Wojtys was nominated by AOSSM. While Dr. George Davies will take charge as Associate Editor - Physical Therapy Section, Dr. Gammons and Dr. Smith will serve as Associate Editor - Primary Care Section and Associate Editor - Athletic Training Section respectively.
A bi-monthly publication, Sports Health is aimed at physicians and allied health professionals who work with athletes. The journal will publish its first issue in January 2009.
