ProQuest, part of Cambridge Information Group, worked with Safari Books Online to develop Safari Select, an online collection of more than 400 technical e-books. Distributed exclusively by ProQuest, Safari Select enables public library patrons to search for and find online answers to complex technology questions in subject areas such as computing, desktop applications, digital photography, home entertainment, the Internet, Windows, Macs and PCs.
The e-collection offers best-selling titles from top IT publishers. This includes O'Reilly Media, John Wiley & Sons, Microsoft Press, and imprints from Pearson Technology Group such as Peachpit Press, Addison-Wesley, Prentice Hall, Sams Publishing and QUE. Together, these publishers generate over 80 percent of all computer book sales in the US.
To keep libraries up to date on the latest technology developments, Safari Select will add about 100 titles every year. The collection is currently available to public libraries worldwide.
