Informa Pharmaceutical Science, the Pharmaceutical Science division of Informa Healthcare, has announced the appointment of Dr Malcolm Richardson as the new editor-in-chief of Critical Reviews in Microbiology. Critical Reviews in Microbiology is an international, peer-reviewed journal that publishes comprehensive reviews covering all areas of medical microbiology. Areas of interest include bacteriology, virology, microbial genetics, epidemiology, and diagnostic microbiology.
Dr Richardson, currently an associate professor in medical mycology at the University of Helsinki in Finland and a consultant at Helsinki University Central Hospital, joins the journal with extensive laboratory, professional and editorial experience. In addition to his professorship and roles in Helsinki, Dr Richardson acts as the General Secretary of The International Society for Human and Animal Mycology (ISHAM). He also is a member of the WHO Group on Development of Guidelines for Indoor Air Quality, acts as an advisor for the European Food Safety Authority, and is a sought-after international speaker.
He most recently served as a specialist reviewer for several infectious disease and mycology journals - among which is the Informa title, Medical Mycology. He also acts as an Editor of the Journal of Medical Microbiology and is the author of Fungal Infection: Diagnosis and Management, 4th Edition, The Pocket Guide to Fungal Infection, 2nd Edition, and Therapeutic Guidelines in Systemic Fungal Infection, 4th Edition.
