Subscription services provider Swets, Netherlands, has announced that Henk C.J. Compier has been appointed as Director of its latest business unit, Swets Gateway. Swets Gateway is a direct sales channel for publishers, focusing on selling specific publisher content into targeted territories.
Henk Compier joins Swets from IDG Netherlands, part of the International Data Group, where he worked as Sales Director. Prior to this, Henk's career in the information industry has included significant sales positions at Ovid Technologies (Wolters-Kluwer Health), ADONIS B.V. and Elsevier Science.
In addition, the company has also announced the promotion of Lorraine Ellery to Publisher Sales Manager, Swets Gateway. Ellery has worked within the information industry for over 10 years, the past seven of which have been with Swets.
Launched at the 2008 Frankfurt Book Fair, Swets Gateway builds upon Swets' many years of experience in selling publisher content in numerous parts of the world, including successful publisher related operations in Turkey and Africa, as well as its innovative Gateway To China programme which has been active since 2004.
In the first instance, Swets Gateway will focus on the territories of China, India, Central and South East Asia as well as Australasia. With in-territory sales staff who have intimate knowledge of the industry and local market, Swets Gateway offers a unique opportunity to participating publishers.
