The International Council for Scientific and Technical Information (ICSTI) has announced that the ICSTI 2009 conference will be held from June 9-10, 2009, in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. The conference is organised by the NRC Canada Institute for Scientific and Technical Information (NRC-CISTI).
Sharing research data is essential for effective collaboration. Few scientists, however, have the time or resources to ensure sustainable access to data for joint projects, domain-specific applications or re-use. The ICSTI 2009 conference will examine how publishers, librarians and researchers can work together to create structures for managing and communicating scientific data.
The conference programme includes experts from around the world who will explore the respective contributions of scientists, librarians and publishers to eScience initiatives. Speakers such as Tim Smith (CERN), Fran Berman (San Diego Supercomputer Centre), James Mullins (Purdue University) and Peter Fox (Rensselaer Polytechnic University) will discuss their perspectives and solutions to data challenges.
