Journal of Neural Engineering, published by IOP publishing, UK, has announced a change from the existing page numbering to an article numbering system, which will begin with the 2009 volume. Article numbering offers important advantages and flexibility as it speeds up the publication process. Papers are immediately citable as soon as they are available online. The bibliographic citation will change slightly. Articles will now have to be referenced using the six-digit article number in place of a page number.
In addition, due to the journal's growing size and popularity, the frequency of publication of the journal will change from quarterly to bimonthly from 2009. For authors it means faster publication times, ensuring that work gets published as quickly as possible.
Neural Engineering is an emerging interdisciplinary research area that brings to bear neuroscience and engineering methods to analyse neurological function as well as to design solutions to problems associated with neurological limitations and dysfunction. The Journal of Neural Engineering publishes full length articles in the field of neural engineering at the molecular, cellular and systems levels.
