Gold Standard re-launches clinical toxicology poisoning reference tool -

Clinical software vendor Gold Standard, Inc., US, part of STM publisher Elsevier, has re-launched ToxED (http://www.toxed.com/), an electronic clinical toxicology reference. The newly updated and revised electronic clinical toxicology reference addresses clinicians' need for quick access to concise and comprehensive information at the point-of-care for the diagnosis and treatment of poisonings, drug overdoses, and exposure to chemicals and hazardous waste.

The first version of ToxED, introduced in 2006, offered clinicians limited insight into the basis of a treatment recommendation or how patients were responding on a physiological or molecular level. In contrast, this new version of ToxED is based on the toxicology manual by Haddad and Winchester, Clinical Management of Poisoning and Drug Overdose, published by Elsevier.

ToxED offers quick access to concise and comprehensive information at the point-of-care for the diagnosis and treatment of poisonings, drug overdoses, and exposure to chemicals and hazardous waste. Clinical toxicology information is presented in three sections - Emergency Management Principles, Specific Agents and Treatments, and Environmental and Occupational Toxicology. Transformed into an efficient online tool with easy drop-down navigation and quick summaries, ToxED now offers clinicians enough information to save patients' lives at the point-of-care, along with detailed but accessible and actionable treatment recommendations, sources and rationales.

Gold Standard is offering a free electronic 'Open House' to showcase the new version of ToxED for the month of November.
