e-research and educational publisher Gale, part of Cengage Learning, US, has announced the availability of a new web service, dedicated to electronic resource usage reporting, for its online databases. The new service is in compliance with the Standardized Usage Statistics Harvesting Initiative (SUSHI) Protocol and the Counting Online Usage of Networked Electronic Resources (COUNTER) Codes of Practice.
Gale's SUSHI service makes it possible for librarians to receive usage statistics for Gale databases using a SUSHI-compatible client. Automating the retrieval of COUNTER reports saves time and makes it easier for customers to collect usage statistics in an industry-standard format.
The usage reports delivered by the service are in compliance with Release 2 of the COUNTER Code of Practice for Journals and Databases.
