The Society for Public Health Education (SOPHE) Board of Trustees has announced the appointment of Dr. Leonard Jack, Jr., as the editor-in-chief of the Society's peer-reviewed journal Health Promotion Practice (HPP). He succeeds Randy Schwartz, MSPH, Senior Vice President, American Cancer Society, New England Division, who helped develop the original vision for HPP and has served as its editor since January 2000.
Dr. Jack has more than 20 years of public health research and practice experience related to the socio-cultural aspects of disease management; psychosocial aspects of managing diabetes; health disparities; men's health; family, and community-based interventions. Before his entry into academia, he worked for the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in Atlanta, and served in several editorial board positions. He begins a six-month transition period as head of HPP's editorial board, with his five-year term officially commencing in January 2010.
HPP publishes authoritative, peer-reviewed articles devoted to the practical application of health promotion and education and is one of two-peer reviewed SOPHE journals.
