Membership at iThenticate's CrossCheck community crosses 50th mark -

Web-based content verification technology provider iThenticate, US, has announced the addition of the 51st publisher to its CrossCheck user community. CrossCheck comprises publishers and societies across the world who use iThenticate technology in the editorial process, as well as deposit their respective published scholarly articles in iThenticate's comparison databases.

Launched in June 2008, CrossCheck is a cooperative service from CrossRef and iParadigms. It provides publishers with web-based text analysis and a growing database of scholarly publications against which to compare manuscripts and papers for duplication.

Growing at a rate of 20 million pages a day, the iThenticate database enables its web-based plagiarism prevention services to rapidly check information for originality against an unprecedented volume of public and proprietary information. The database itself boasts billions of articles from the web and a wide variety of publishing partners including American Association for the Advancement of Science, American Institute of Physics, American Psychological Association, Association for Computing Machinery, British Medical Journal, Elsevier, Informa UK Ltd, Institute of Electrical & Electronics Engineers, Nature Publishing Group, Oxford University Press, Springer, Wiley-Blackwell, Wolters Kluwer Health/Lippincott Williams & Wilkins. New content is being added as additional CrossRef members join the initiative to assure their content's originality.
