Scientific publisher Nature Publishing Group (NPG), UK, has announced that Nature Network, free online networking website for scientists worldwide, has launched a 'hub' dedicated to New York City at http://network.nature.com/hubs/nyc/. New York City (NYC) joins London and Boston as the third Nature Network city hub, and is the first new hub since the global launch of Nature Network in March 2007.
The Nature Network New York City hub offers a blog, forum, jobs and event listings for the city's thriving scientific community. Two Columbia University-based scientists will help bring the community together by chronicling the NYC scientific scene. Caryn Shechtman, a fourth-year graduate student, and Barry Hudson, an associate research scientist, will blog about scientific life in the city, by covering scientific events, writing about local research, and profiling local researchers.
Nature Network is Nature Publishing Group's community website to help scientists meet, communicate and collaborate. The site, which has blogs, discussion forums, groups, and personal profiles, continues to enjoy steady growth, attracting about 1000 new registered users a month from around the world.
