Society for Vascular Nursing releases patient care guideline via Elsevier journal -

The Society for Vascular Nursing (SVN) has released the first in a series of guidelines being developed that will focus on the nursing care of patients with vascular disease. Working as a collective group of experts, members of SVN have developed guidelines based on the latest available evidence supporting patient care. The 2009 Clinical Practice Guideline for Patients Undergoing Endovascular Repair of Abdominal Aortic Aneurysms appears in the June issue of the Journal of Vascular Nursing, published by Elsevier.

The intent of the guideline is to improve outcomes for patients undergoing endovascular repair of abdominal aortic aneurysms and ensure continuity of care across the population. It addresses assessment, diagnostic studies, medications, interventions and education in preoperative, perioperative and postoperative care.

Journal of Vascular Nursing provides clinical information regarding various issues such as aortic and peripheral aneurysms, upper and lower extremity arterial disease, and acute and chronic venous disease. Original, peer-reviewed articles present descriptions, etiologies, diagnostic procedures, medical and surgical treatment and nursing implications of vascular system disorders.
