The Association of Learned and Professional Society Publishers (ALPSP), US, has announced that Best New Journal and Publishing Innovation awards will be announced on September 11, at the ALPSP International Conference at Beaumont House in Berkshire. The Association has already shortlisted the candidates for the two awards.
Candidates for the best new journal include the American Chemical Society, Elsevier, Wiley-Blackwell and Emerald Group Publishing. Meanwhile, the publishing innovation award, which recognises innovative approach to any aspect of publication, is being fought between CrossRef/iParadigms Partnership, International Union of Crystallography, Oxford Journals, the OECD, and Ringgold.
The ALPSP International Conference is projected as the perfect opportunity to discuss issues of common interest and to share information and best practice in an informal setting. The conference will feature sessions for books and journals publishers, with keynotes from Timo Hannay (Nature Publishing Group) and Paul Evans (Elsevier).
