Journal of Physics D announces online publication of Cluster Issue on Light Sources -

The Journal of Physics D: Applied Physics, published by IOP publishing, has announced the online publication of a Cluster Issue on Light Sources. The papers in this Cluster Issue originate from the 11th International Symposium on the Science and Technology of Light Sources (LS:11).

Guest edited by David Wharmby, the Cluster Issue starts with a comprehensive review by Benilov of the progress that has been made in the past 15 years in understanding the behaviour of cathode and anode terminations in arcs. A number of following papers cover applications of this theory, extensions to time dependence and examination of the effects of the different gaseous atmospheres in which lighting arcs operate. The papers are currently free to download from the J.Phys.D website at http://www.iop.org/EJ/journal/0022-3727.

Journal of Physics D: Applied Physics reports significant new results in all aspects of applied physics research. The journal welcomes experimental, computational (including simulation and modelling) and theoretical studies, and also studies in physics-related areas of biomedical and life sciences. It covers research across many areas of applied physics, including magnetism, semiconductors, photonics, surfaces and interfaces, and plasmas.
