The German Initiative for Networked Information (DINI) has developed a German (and potentially multilingual) interface to the English SHERPA / RoMEO service to provide additional information on German publishers' open access (OA) policies. Together with the SHERPA / RoMEO team, DINI aims to build an international support structure for OA information.
The Securing a Hybrid Environment for Research Preservation and Access (SHERPA) project is part of the JISC Focus on Access to Institutional Resources Programme. The initiative consists of a consortium of research-led universities promoting and advising on the development of OA repositories. It is seen as essential for the strategy of OA self-archiving that scientific authors are given comprehensive information on publisher copyright policies.
As a next step, the newly developed German interface will be enhanced to an integration layer combining different sources on publisher copyright policies. This integration layer can be used in many different contexts.
