Journal of Physics A: Mathematical and Theoretical, published by non-profit scientific publisher Institute of Physics (IOP) Publishing, UK, has announced the publication of a special issue on entanglement entropy in extended quantum systems. The special issue is free-to-read until July 1, 2010.
Entanglement entropy has been revealed to be a fruitful probe of quantum properties of many-body systems and of quantum field theory. Its connections to many diverse areas of theoretical physics have developed very rapidly. Yet, many aspects are still to be studied, and it is a subject of intensive research worldwide. The review articles is this special issue, guest edited by Pasquale Calabrese, John Cardy and Benjamin Doyon, seek to provide an assessment of progress in the field.
Journal of Physics A: Mathematical and Theoretical reports research on the mathematical structures that describe fundamental processes of the physical world and on the analytical, computational and numerical methods for exploring these structures. Each issue of the journal is split into six sections. This includes statistical physics; chaotic and complex systems; mathematical physics; quantum mechanics and quantum information theory; classical and quantum field theory; and fluid and plasma theory.
