Medical information publisher The BMJ Group, UK, has announced the appointment of
Professor Jacqueline Cassell, Professor Matthew Kiernan and Professor Cheok Soon Lee as new editors for the journals Sexually Transmitted Infections, the Journal of Neurology Neurosurgery and Psychiatry and the Journal of Clinical Pathology, respectively. These journals are among the more than 30 specialist titles published by BMJ Group.
Professor Jacqueline Cassell is the new editor for the journal Sexually Transmitted Infections, effective August, 2010. She will take over from joint editors Dr. Helen Ward and Dr. Rob Miller, who have edited the journal since 2003. Professor Cassell has extensive teaching and research experience and has been a member of various working groups and expert panels for a wide range of regulatory, educational, research, and government bodies. Before taking up her current position, she was associate editor of Sexually Transmitted Infections.
Professor Matthew Kiernan will be the new editor of the Journal of Neurology Neurosurgery and Psychiatry, effective January 2010. Professor Kiernan, who is Professor of Neurology and Senior Scientist at the Prince of Wales Medical Research Institute at the University of New South Wales in Australia, takes over from Professor Martin Rossor, who held the post for six years. He has an extensive research portfolio and is an editorial board member of several prestigious academic journals, including the Journal of Clinical Neuroscience and Clinical Neurophysiology. He is also on the editorial board of BMJ Case Reports.
Professor Cheok Soon Lee will take up his post as editor of the Journal of Clinical Pathology in January 2010. He takes over from Professor Runjan Chetty who has edited the journal since 2003. Professor Lee is Foundation Professor and Chair of Pathology at the School of Medicine, University of Western Sydney as well as Clinical Professor of Pathology and Head of Cancer Pathology at the Bosch Institute, University of Sydney. He has an extensive research portfolio, and currently heads two research groups covering gastrointestinal and breast cancers. Also, he has published widely in more than 130 international peer reviewed journals and written numerous book chapters.
