Non-profit electronic archiving service provider Portico, US, has announced an agreement with Rockefeller University Press to preserve its online collection of three e-journals. Rockefeller University established a publications department in 1910 and has been publishing scholarly journals in the sciences since 1917.
Through this agreement with Portico, the Press seeks to further its digital preservation strategy. Since 2005, it has worked with JSTOR to provide a trusted archive for the back issues of the Journal of Cell Biology. Also, the Press has agreed to make an annual contribution to Portico to support its preservation work and has named Portico as a mechanism to fill post-cancellation access claims.
With this inclusion, over 10,000 e-journals and 27,000 e-books from 75 publishers on behalf of 2,000 societies and associations have now been entrusted to the Portico archive.
