Online publishing services provider Semantico Ltd., UK, has announced that the Royal Marsden Manual Online, an online learning and reference product developed by Semantico in partnership with Wiley-Blackwell has been shortlisted for the ALPSP Publishing Innovation Award.
The Royal Marsden Manual Online extends the usefulness of the standard reference work on nursing good practice by employing Web 2.0 User Generated Content (UGC) in enabling local trusts to add their own Trust-specific procedure guidelines. Users can comment on procedures in the Manual and add extra information which carries their attribution and contact details. A sophisticated back-end puts control and workflow in the hands of the individual Trust, enabling administrators to manage the workflow process and set their own schedules for review.
The ALPSP award for Publishing Innovation is in recognition of a truly innovative approach to any aspect of publication. Applications are judged on their originality and innovative qualities, together with their utility, benefit to their community and long term prospects. The winner of the award will be announced on September 10, 2009, at the ALPSP International Conference Dinner at the Oxford Belfry.
